Dr. Randy Gardner, Emeritus Faculty in the Department of Horticultural Science, was recently awarded the AAS Breeders Cup Award. The award was established in 2004 to recognize a plant breeder who dramatically influenced horticulture by breeding new cultivars that brought significant improvements to those classes. All-America Selections is very proud to recognize Dr. Randy Gardner with this award. Dr. Gardner, renowned tomato breeder, has over 32 years of experience at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River, North Carolina. Continue reading

Arlene Calhoun Named JCRA Assistant Director

JC Raulston Arboretum members. volunteers, and stakeholders are very pleased to announce that Arlene Calhoun has been named Assistant Director of the JC Raulston Arboretum at NCSU.

Arlene has a background as an executive with experience in direct marketing, business operations, and communications with a focus on building revenue streams. After 15 years in the business world, Arlene was ready for new challenges.  She began as a volunteer with the JCRA, helping to gather needed data to analyze our rental program and was subsequently hired as the JCRA Volunteer & Membership Coordinator.
