Glorious Start to Ken’s Garden

Ken Fager Memorial Garden at CEFS

Much work has been done at the Ken Fager Memorial Garden on CEFS Small Farm Unit in Goldsboro. Multiple NC State classes have helped, including Will Hooker’s Permaculture and Julieta Sherk’s Landscape Construction courses. CEFS and students are in the early stages of making the garden design a reality.

Recently, Julieta Sherk’s class visit Goldsboro to help lay landscape fabric, spread mulch on the paths, assemble two arbors. Julieta’s class will also be coming up with a planting design once transplants are large enough. Additionally, we are planning an open gazebo covered in vines at the center of the garden.

Ken was a teacher, role model and friend to all of us. This garden is a small token to a man that meant so much to so many people. The Ken Fager Memorial Garden is off to a glorious start!
